Accepting the gambit gives White space and developing tempi. The strong centre compensates for the temporarily sacrificed pawn.
- Chase the knight with e5
- Develop with Nf3 and build the centre with d4
- Recover e5 with the queen, then regain the f4 pawn
Watch out
- Playing Nf3 before d4 prevents ...Qh4+
- Do not rush to recover the pawn if it delays development
